The frequency of hair wash should depend on the amount of oil that your scalp produces in a given day. That means, how frequent you need to wash your hair should not be set arbitrarily. It must be taken into account based on your observations on the nature of your scalp- in particularly, the degree of oil it produces in a day.

For oily scalp, you may have to wash your hair as often as once a day. So, if you have oily hair you need to wash your hair more frequently.
