Take a Blissful Walk through Fort Aguada

Fort Aguada, a 17th-century fort located in the tourist hub of Candolim, features one of the oldest lighthouses in Asia. It was built by the Portuguese to help withstand the Dutch and Maratha invasions. Additionally, the citadel derives its name from the freshwater spring within its premises. Aguada simply means water in Portuguese. This potable water was supplied to the ships that would stop by.

Today, this majestic fortress offers visitors a glimpse into the past with its well-preserved ramparts and numerous cannons. It is a popular tourist destination with several vantage points where one can enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of the Arabian Sea and the surrounding landscapes. A fun fact about this fort is that it even got featured in two prominent Bollywood movies, Dhoom and Dil Chahta Hai.

A short walk from Fort Aguada, Devil's Finger is a remarkable geological formation along Sinquerim Beach that one can add to their itinerary as well. Once atop the rock formation, enjoy picturesque views of sea waves crashing against the rocky shores. Make sure to wear trekking shoes, carry water, and pack light for the trip.

With its warm hospitality, serene beaches, vibrant culture, historical monuments, and enchanting landscapes, Goa truly embodies the essence of a must-visit destination.
