What are Halq and Taqsir?  

Halq

For women, performing Taqsir by themselves is compulsory. It includes cutting the hair to one inch. Women can cut their hair by themselves. They can also take cut their hair from a Mahram with them. But she cannot take a cut from a non-mahram. 

Halq Rules for Men

  • Halq is not a requirement for women in any circumstance. 
  • The entire head must be shaved if you're performing Halq. 
  • Even if a person has no hair, the ritual still needs to be performed with a razor.
  • Halq or Taqsir must be performed by facing the Qibla from the right side.

Taqsir Rules for Women

  • Women should perform Taqsir rather than Halq to exit from Ihram.
  • All ends of the hair should be cut to the length of a fingertip or one inch to perform for the Taqsir.
  • If a woman’s hair is short, it must be slightly cut to escape from Ihram’s condition.

Umrah haircut Importance

To get an exit from Ihram, it is compulsory for both men and women that they must perform a haircut ritual as their final step. This ritual has special meaning, as one's head hair is associated with appearance in the outside world. One must follow this ritual and adhere to the spiritual path to complete the Umrah.
