There are numerous types of television channels in the French language. Whether you are an international student or just interested in learning more about the French culture, there are several ways to watch shows in the French language. Below are just a few of the choices you have.
Arte

Arte is a European broadcasting company. Its mission is to promote cultural understanding across Europe. Founded in 1992, it's one of the most popular TV channels in Europe.

A French-German broadcasting service, it's headquartered in Strasbourg, France. It's an international joint venture of three companies. ARTE GEIE, ARTE Deutschland, and ARTE France deal with the scheduling, programming, and broadcasting of the network.

Arte's website features 400 programs from around the world. Some of the more notable titles include the Abenteuer Arte, Xanadu, and Les Choristes.
BFM TV

BFM TV is the most popular television channel in France. It is headquartered in Paris, Ile-de-France. This news and sports channel offers live streaming of its programs and shows. The broadcasts are in high definition.

Since its launch in 2004, BFM TV has managed to achieve a significant market share. At present, the station has over 10 million viewers a day. In September 2020, it increased its audience by 0.4 points, ranking it among the top four news channels.
Canal+

Canal+ is a French television station that was launched in 1984. It offers a wide variety of programming including movies, cartoons, anime, and sports.

The company's main focus is television series. It also has a sister channel, Canal+ Family, which features family-friendly content.

Canal+ has been providing entertainment for years, and has been experimenting with an over-the-top streaming service, myCanal, since November 2017. However, it faces stiff competition from Netflix, which is now available in France.

Helene et les Garcons

Helene et les Garcons was a French television series that aired from 1992 to 1994. In the ensuing years, she forms an alliance with two other students, Christian and Etienne, who also happen to be musicians.

It has been re-broadcast on AB1, NT1, Filles TV and on the web. A number of spin-offs have appeared over the years. One notable series is The Holidays of Love.
