It’s almost effortless, the way they make calculated decisions in a matter of seconds. Wit and charm put together infatuate onlookers as they witness the brilliance of their abilities. In the world of fiction, there are certain characters that earn themselves a cult fan following solely because of their strength, their fighting abilities, or, perhaps, because of their appearance.

However, there are a handful of brilliant minds that have dazzled audiences with their talents. Let’s list down five of the greatest minds we have ever seen in fiction.

 Light Yagami

If you are into anime/manga, you may have heard about the pop culture sensation Death Note. This was written by Tsugumi Ohba and illustrated by Takeshi Obata. It is a  psychological-thriller known for its most shrewd, cunning, and wise minds in fiction—Light Yagami.

Light is depicted as the perfect teenager. Let’s list down some of his notable characteristics.

Light got 1st place at the national level for academic speaking, making him the most intelligent individual in a million people. Theoretically, fans have predicted Light to have an insane IQ of around 155-160.

But where Light truly excels is his ability to assess individuals psychologically.

Light is so brilliant; he is seen to have grown bored of his conventional life. Eventually, he finds his calling when a mysterious diary finds him, one that can help him kill anyone he pleases.

 Bruce Wayne - Batman

Of course, our list would be incomplete without the world’s greatest detective. On May 1939, in the Detective Comics no. 27, the world saw the debut of not only a character but an icon written by Bob Kane and Bill Finger. Bruce, with the help of his sidekick, Robin, instantly became a sensation.

Batman’s IQ is around 192, whereas various other versions of him have been recorded with quotients of 1045 and more! Batman is easily the smartest character in the whole of Justice League.

That’s not all; in Batman #127, Bruce made a contingency plan for himself in case he went rogue. Even though he is inherently human, which makes him physically inferior to the deities featured in the DC universe, it’s his intelligence that makes him a force to be reckoned with.

  Hermoine Granger

Bet you can practically hear her say, “It’s leviosa, not leviosar,” with the mention of her name. Hermoine is the brightest witch of her time, as per Professor Lupin—the best student at Hogwarts in J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter. In the entire Harry Potter series, you can see her executing incredible feats with Harry and Ron. However, it’s her analytical and problem-solving skills that have made her such an icon among audiences and a torch-bearer of feminism. She resonates with audiences around the world because her brilliance isn’t all raw intelligence; she makes sure to constantly learn and perfect her craft with rigorous study.

  Sherlock Holmes

Sherlock Holmes, written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, is a name that’s etched in the Hall of Fame of Fiction. His deductive skills and attention to detail became a phenomenon that made readers keep coming back for more. He balanced his intelligence with wit and arrogance, which became addictive to readers.

In terms of intelligence, Sherlock Holmes’ predicted IQ is a whopping 140, falling just short of the great Albert Einstein.

  Julie Buckingham

Last but certainly not least, we have a character that has been the talk of the town. Someone who is taking the phrase “beauty and brains” to a whole new level. Sherlock Holmes may fall short of Einstein’s intelligence. However, Julie Buckingham, in Stephen Jensen’s book Avalon TimeFall, is quite literally revered as the modern-day Einstein. Alongside her husband, Michael Hall, she is sent on a time-bending adventure to see the couple travel through history as Michael discovers he may be a descendant of King Arthur.

Delve into Julie’s genius in one of the most exciting pieces of fiction with Avalon TimeFall by Stephen Jensen.
