Things You Need to Know About Siemens Veriflow

Installing a bypass valve from Siemens in a loop known as a bypass loop allows for the bypassing of an instrument, control valve, or other device. The majority of bypass loops are set up to keep a plant running while repairs are being made. 

Any valve put in a bypass line is referred to as a Siemens Veriflow bypass valve; the phrase does not specify any specific type of valve or design. A control valve regulates the pressure or flow within a pipeline. There must be a way to keep the plant from shutting down and emptying the pipe if it needs to be removed for repair or maintenance.

To do this, a bypass line with a Siemens Veriflow bypass valve encircling all three valves and isolation valves on either side of the control valve is used. By handwheels, the bypass and isolation valves are manually actuated. In addition, the bypass valve will often share the same seat and valve specifications as the control valve.

The bypass valve is closed and the isolation Siemens Veriflow valves are open during regular operation. The control valve needs to be disconnected from service if it needs to be changed. If the bypass valve has a handwheel for manual operation, the operator will gradually open it while closing the control valve; if not, they will close one of the isolation valves.

While bypass valves are typically used for this purpose, they can also be used to bypass an entire unit or process. However, this is typically utilized at startup or shutdown. The Siemens Veriflow bypass valve may thus be a bypass valve in that scenario.
