Guinness World Records revealed that Kane Tanaka, Fukuoka Japan (Japan), was the oldest person alive on January 20. The woman, who has a total age of 119, was born on January 2, 1903.
Kane Tanaka survived world wars and pandemics, including the 1918 Spanish Flu. Tanaka was only 19 when Tanaka married her cousin and had four children. She also adopted one daughter.

Tanaka's great-nephew Gary Okada Funakoshi was there to visit her in Japan for her birthday. Linda Okada Funakoshi Funakoshi, his spouse, was also present. Funakoshi claimed that his aunt likes poetry and can recall her trip in the 1970s to California to visit relatives. The Funakoshi hail both from California and Colorado. He explained that her faith in God kept her alive for many years.
