Welded wire fabric, also known as concrete reinforcing mesh, is a grid of high-strength steel wires that are welded together at their intersections. Used to add extra strength and longevity to concrete and other masonry constructions. In terms of size, thickness, and weight, welded wire fabric is very customizable. The most popular size is 6x6 inches (150x150mm), with wires separated by 2 inches (50mm). The 6x12-inch (150x300-mm) and 8x8-inch formats are also rather common (200x200mm). To prevent corrosion, most types of mesh are woven from low-carbon steel wire that has been hot-dipped in zinc.
