The Kailash Mansarovar Yatra is one of the most auspicious & arduous pilgrimage. Located in Tibet (China) at an altitude of 21, 778 feet above sea level, Mt. Kailash is believed the abode of Lord Shiva & Mata Parvati. There is lot of stories & mention about Mt. Kailash in our ancient literatures including our holy Purans. According to Vishnu Puran, Lord Shiva meditates in the mountain in a state of absolute bliss.

Interestingly, no one in the world could climb to the peak of Mt. Kailash till now.

Mount Kailash holds sacred significance not only for Hindus but also for Jains, as it is believed to be the place where the first Jain guru, Rishab Dev, attained nirvana. Buddhists refer to Mount Kailash as Mount Meru, and it is known as Demchok, the sacred abode of the Buddhist deity Cakrasamvara. Tibetan people call it Kang Rampoche or the Precious Jewel.

Adjacent to Mount Kailash is the revered Mansarovar Lake, a vast body of freshwater believed to have been created by Lord Brahma according to ancient scriptures. A crucial aspect of the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra is taking a holy dip in Mansarovar Lake and circumambulating its shores. On clear days, devotees are treated to mesmerizing views of Mount Kailash from the lake. Additionally, the lake is the source of four major rivers: the Indus, Sutlej, Brahmaputra, and Karnali.

How To Reach Kailash Mansarovar:

Various routes from Delhi, Nepal, and Uttar Pradesh lead to Kailash Mansarovar, with many passing through Nepal. Visitors entering Tibet must possess a valid passport, Yatra Permit, and Chinese Visa. Kathmandu serves as the starting point for most devotees embarking on their Kailash Mansarovar Yatra.

Kailash Mansarovar Weather:

The region faces extremely harsh weather conditions from October to March, rendering it nearly inaccessible during this period. Yatras usually occur between May and September. During the summer months, daytime temperatures range from 5 to 18 degrees Celsius, while nighttime temperatures fluctuate between -1 to 10 degrees Celsius.

Best Time To Visit Kailash Mansarovar:

The Kailash Mansarovar Yatra commences in May and concludes in October annually, with the prime months being May and June. It's advisable to avoid the monsoon season, particularly for helicopter tours. Instead, September and early October present optimal conditions for visiting this sacred destination.
