The IIT JAM 2024 registration process started today on 5 September. JAM 2024 is a Computer Based Test (CBT) to be conducted in SEVEN Test Papers at the undergraduate level. It will be organized in more than 100 cities. This year’s organizing institute is IIT Madras.
JAM Scores are used for admission to programmes such as M.Sc., M.Sc. (Tech), M.S Research, M.Sc.-M.Tech. Dual Degree, Joint M.Sc. – Ph.D., M.Sc. – Ph.D. Dual Degree in various institutes.
JAM 2024 Scores will be used for admission to over 2000 seats for IISc and counselling through CCMN.
Admission will be offered on the All India Merit list will be prepared based on AIR. The number of candidates included in the All India Merit List will depend on the total number of seats available in each category (GEN/ OBC-NCL/ EWS/ SC/ ST/ PwD) in a given subject.

IIT JAM is one of the national-level examinations organized to offer admission into M.Sc., M.Sc. PhD, and M.Sc. PhD dual degree etc. programmes. For the year 2024, IIT JAM will be conducted by IIT Madras this year. Candidates can get admission to various universities through an entrance exam.

Around 3000 seats are available in 21 IITs
Result Sharing Institutes
JAM scores will be used for admission to over 2000 seats for postgraduate programmes such as M.Sc. and M.A. at IISc and various NITs, IIEST Shibpur, SLIET, DIAT through Centralized Counselling for M.Sc / M.Sc. (Tech.) Admission (CCMN).

How to Register
Candidates must first register with JOAPS (JAM Online Application Processing System), provide name, valid email address, valid mobile phone number and set a password.
Upon successful registration, the candidate’s registration ID and OTP will be sent to the email address and mobile number provided by the candidate.
Candidates must use this registration ID or email address and password to submit their application.
Candidates are advised to keep the registration ID and password safe.
IIT JAM 2024 Eligibility Minimum Education Qualification(MEQ)
The candidates who have completed an undergraduate degree with success or are presently engaged in pursuing one. Admission to JAM 2024 is available for those who have completed their final year of undergraduate studies. Evidence of completion must be provided.
The Candidate has obtained their Qualifying Degree while satisfying the Minimum Educational Qualifications (MEQs) as outlined by the admitting institute must be completed without delay.
Upon admission, all candidates are subject to the timeline established by the admitting institution. It is imperative that this timeline is followed accordingly.
Admission Fee
After the declaration of the Admission List in each round, intimation will be sent by the Organizing Institute to the candidates concerned. these candidates will also have to pay an advance seat booking fee (₹ 15000 for General / OBC-NCL / EWS category candidates and ₹ 7500 for SC / ST / PwD category candidates) online through JOAPS, within the deadline mentioned in the offer letter.
IIT JAM 2024-Pattern of Test Paper
It will be objective that includes the following-:
- Multiple choice question (MCQ)
- Multiple select questions (MSQ)
- Numerical answer type (NAT) questions
A Joint Admission Test(JAM) is held for the comprehensive understanding of the candidates in various UG subjects as:
- Biotechnology(BT),
- Chemistry(CY),
- Economics(EN),
- Geology(GG),
- Mathematics(MA),
- Mathematical Science(MS) and
- Physics(PH)
Note-:A new paper on Economics(EN) is added to JAM 2021 onwards
JAM Scores
JAM scores will be used for admission into M.Sc (2 years), Masters in Economics(2 years), Joint M.Sc PhD, M.Sc PhD dual degree, M.Sc.MS research, PhD dual degree and the post-bachelor degree programme at IITs and BHU Varanasi.
The JAM score is used by other centrally funded technical institutions such as NITs, IIEST Shibpur, SUET Punjab, and IISERs for admission to the programme.
It is to be kept in mind that qualifying in JAM does not guarantee either admission to the PG programme or any scholarship/financial assistance.
