The former Germany international is in the running to become Barcelona's next manager. There have even been concrete talks.

"The agent of Hanji Flick, the former coach of Munich and Germany national team, has met with Barcelona officials and held concrete talks," German outlet Bavarian Football reported on Sunday, citing Sky Sports journalist Florian Plettenberg.

Barcelona coach Xavi Hernandez will step down at the end of the season.

He took over at Barcelona in November 2021 and led the team to the La Liga title last season.

This season, however, Barcelona has been on the decline. They have 17 wins, 7 draws, and 3 losses in La Liga (58 points), far behind "rival" leaders Real Madrid (66 points). They're even in third place behind Girona (59 points).

Xavi, who has been embroiled in rumors of a falling out with the squad, has already reached a mutual agreement with the club to stay on until the end of the season.

According to Bavarian Football, Flick is one of the favorites to lead Barcelona next season. The discussions are said to have been quite detailed.

Flick's world-renowned agent, Finnie Zahavi, is close to Barcelona president Juan Laporta. As a result, 스포츠토토 reports emerged that Zahavi had met with Barcelona officials, and Flick's move to Barcelona was quickly realized.

Flick was in charge of the German national team until September last year. However, he was sacked in September 2023 after a crushing defeat against Japan.

He had previously coached Munich. He was recognized for his leadership in the 2019-2020 season when he gave Munich the treble.

Aside from Flick, Barcelona are also reportedly interested in Roberto De Zerbi, who is leading Brighton's breakout season. However, they would have to pay a penalty fee to Brighton if they were to sign De Jervi.
