This film, in which he starred as Solomon Northup, was nominated in the Best Actor categories and received numerous BAFTA, BET., Black Reel, and Satellite awards. The Laurence Olivier Award for Best Actor was won by him for his role as Othello in the 2007 Donmar Warehouse production. The film was nominated for the Emmy, Golden Globe, Satellite, and Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Narrator. Ejiofor was also nominated for the Black Reel Award for Outstanding Breakthrough Screenwriter, the NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Directing in Motion Picture, the Alfred P. In 2008, Queen Elizabeth II appointed him Officer of the British Empire for services to the art.[8] He was then elevated to Commander of the British Empire at the 2015 Birthday Honours.
