Children's blue light glasses have special lenses that can filter certain light waves and improve the comfort of children's eyes in an increasingly digital world. For a long time, people have been using computer glasses to reduce the harm of digital products to their eyes. However, Blu-ray lenses usually have an extra yellowish hue.

Blu-ray glasses have several different names. You may hear that they are called blue light barrier glasses or blue light filter glasses. Sometimes they are only called blue light barrier mirrors. Although many types of Blu-ray glasses are called "blue light barriers", it is more accurate to say that they can filter light.

You can buy prescription or over-the-counter kids eyeglasses online and filtered Blu-ray lenses. They do not filter out all blue light, but they can reduce the amount of time a child is exposed to blue ultraviolet light.

Parents may want to consider limiting the amount of time young children spend on screens and wearing blue-ray glasses for children aged 12 and older, or for children who look at screens for hours a day, said Megan Lott, an optometrist who specializes in children's vision care in Belle Vue Specialty Eye Care, Mississippi.

Lott said: "I recommend that these children wear Blu-ray filters to ensure comfort because they spend too much time looking at the equipment.

A good pair of children's sunglasses is also essential to block ultraviolet rays and filter blue light when your child plays outdoors for hours or participates in activities with strong lights, such as hanging out on the beach or skiing, Lott says.

She recommends polarized children's sunglasses, which block UVA and UVB rays 100%.

"if you wear sunglasses, your child also needs to wear sunglasses," she said.

How does blue light affect children's eyes?
Blue light all around us turns the sky blue, and many of the LED monitors we use every day emit a small amount of blue light. Even indoors, the main source of blue light is sunlight.

Does this mean that you should consider buying blue light filter glasses for your child?

Parents worried about the blue light of the screen can limit the amount of time their children spend on the screen, teach them the 20-20-20 rule 20 feet away for 20 minutes in front of the screen for 20 seconds buy blue light glasses for their children, Lott said.

So what exactly is blue light?

Blue light is part of the visible spectrum, with wavelengths ranging from 400 nm to 495 nm. It can be divided into two bands: blue-purple light (400-455 nm) and blue-green light (465-495 nm).

The sun is the main source of blue light, but blue light may also come from the following light sources:

Computers, tablets, and smartphones

Television screens

Fluorescent lights

LED lights

Not all electronic screens are LED screens, so different devices or manufacturers may emit different types of blue light.

The good news is that there is no evidence that blue light from the screen can cause physical damage to a child's eyes, Lott points out.

"It's hard to know if there are any long-term effects because screens haven't been part of our daily lives for a long time," Lott said.
