Kedarnath is one of the religious places of Hindus. Kedarnath is situated in the district of Rudraprayag, Uttarakhand. Kedarnath is basically one of the Char Dhams that is located in the Himalayas. Kedarnath is located at 3584 meters above sea level. It is situated near the head of river Mandakini.  Kedarnath temple lies in between the mighty snow-capped Himalayan ranges of Garhwal and is also visited by thousands of pilgrims as well as tourists each year.  Kedarnath trek is also amazingly beautiful and divine for the trekkers as well. This shrine of ancient times is devoted to Lord Shiva. Kedarnath offers an atmosphere that is calm and divine.Kedarnath is a must-visit for both trekkers as well as pilgrims and tourists from all around the globe. The distance between Kedarnath and Rishikesh is about 223km.The Kedarnath trek is an 18 km trek that usually starts from Gauri kund and ends at Kedarnath.Kedarnath attracts a large number of pilgrims and tourists every year who visit there to pay their respects to Lord Shiva. 

Weather:-

Kedarnath offers typical Himalayan weather. That means it is quite cool in summer but when it comes to winter, the temperature is very low and the weather condition is very severe and harsh in Kedarnath.The best time recommended to visit Kedarnath is during summer because the average temperature of Kedarnath at that time is around 17 degrees. The best months recommended to visit Kedarnath are the months of May, June, September, and October. During monsoons, it experiences heavy rainfalls which can be destructive at times. The day temperature is usually between 8 degrees to 15 degrees while as night temperature is between -5 degrees to 3 degrees. 

How to reach Kedarnath:-

There are various ways to reach Kedarnath some of which are listed below:-

1) by air:-

The closest airport to Kedarnath is Jolly Grant airport which is at a distance of about 238 km from Kedarnath.You can reach Gaurikand easily by taxis which are available at the airport.There are also helicopter options available for people who don't want to trek to Kedarnath. 

2) By train:-

Rishikesh railway station is the closest one to Kedarnath and is located at a distance of about 216 km from Kedarnath.You can easily reach Gaurikand from the railway station by bus or by taxi etc. 

3) By road:-

Both buses as well as cabs are available to Gaurikand from most of the North indian areas. You can easily reach Gaurikand by road and after reaching Gaurikand you have to trek to your destination which is Kedarnath. 

Things to remember:-

1) You should get a  complete body checkup before your trip to Kedarnath. 

2) If you have health issues like respiratory problems, high blood pressure problems, asthma etc, then you should not opt for trekking to Kedarnath. 

3) If you wish not to trek and instead opt for ponies, palkies, etc, then you should go for advanced booking. 

4) Pilgrims are allowed to trek to Kedarnath between 4:00 AM to 1:30 PM.So you have to wake up early and go for an early morning trek. This will also save you from the harsh sun if you are trekking during summer. 

5) In some cases, people are not able to complete their trek by the evening. In such cases, you should stay there in camps to stay safe during the night and continue your trek the other day. 

6) Since it's the time of the covid outbreak, you should carry a sanitizer with you along with your face masks to stay safe. 

7) You should also carry some packaged food because during your trek Or travel to Kedarnath, you might feel hungry and this packaged food will be there for your rescue. 

8) You should also carry a first-aid box which can be used in case of emergencies.

9) You should wear a good pair of sneakers and avoid wearing flowy clothes like sarees. Instead, go for salwar kameez as it will ensure your smooth journey to Kedarnath. 

10) You should also carry water bottles in case you are stuck at any place where there is non-availability of water during your trek to Kedarnath. 

11) You should also carry warm clothes and jackets during winter. Thermals are also important as night temperature is usually very low and you might need them during the night.
