Workplace wellbeing

Glia is a mental health first aid training program that teaches individuals how to recognise and respond to signs of mental illness or distress. The program provides practical skills and knowledge to help people provide initial support to someone who may be experiencing a mental health problem. Glia's training courses are designed to promote mental health awareness and reduce stigma surrounding mental illness, as well as empower individuals to support their own mental health and that of others. The program is suitable for workplace wellbeing, community groups, and anyone who wants to learn more about mental health.

While New Zealand’s workplace safety incident rates are inexcusably high and rightly deserve our attention, addressing our failures in relation to worker safety should not excuse us continuing to ignore our even greater failures in relation to our workforce's Mental Health and Well-being (Duncan, 2016).
