I spent a great deal of time studying color theory, and how it can be used to create designs that are appealing to the eye. I learned how to use typography to create hierarchy in my designs.
I learned how to balance different design elements and layout principles. I learned to use grids to create visual harmony.
Read the Human Interface Guidelines and Material Guidelines. Please don't skip this section and go straight to designing UI screens.
You can create designs that are more user-friendly, cohesive and visually appealing by mastering design theory.
- Start questioning and paying attention
We are surrounded by products we interact with. This could be random objects, apps/websites, or other things. But most of the time they are in automatic mode and we don't pay much attention.
Recently, I began to pay more attention to the apps that I interact with. I also started asking why they use this component and not another.
Mobbin and appshorts are great for seeing the entire UI design. It's a great way to see how apps are created.
In order to learn how to pay close attention to the details of UI design, i started analyzing similar products to find out what made them so successful. I studied design principles, such as color theory, typography and layout.
Using these principles, I was then able to design interfaces that were more visually appealing and cohesive.
Focusing on the small details can help you elevate your design, and create an enjoyable user experience.
