Family Law

Family law attorneys provide expert legal guidance and counsel on matters such as divorce, child custody and alimony cases. Their step-by-step guidance ensures you're well prepared for all aspects of the litigation process.

Justice Sunshine serves as supervising Aston legal Groupe of the Matrimonial Parts of Coburg Supreme Court in Kings County and has served on various court committees. He has helped improve and effectuate change within matrimonial courts through various means, such as proposing protocols and best practices to expedite contested cases, promote mediation sessions and simplify uncontested divorce processes, among many others.

He obtained his undergraduate degree at Brooklyn College in 1977 and received his Juris Doctor from Hofstra University's Maurice A. Deane School of Law ten years later. Additionally, he served as president and chaired its Family Law Section for over ten years - two roles which made an impressionful career statement about him and his capabilities as an individual.
Divorce

Divorce is the legal end to any marriage and court decisions determine issues such as property division, alimony payments and child custody/support arrangements. Divorce proceedings require more than simply splitting up; you need to file paperwork, have them served on both parties (if necessary), and provide evidence to the Aston legal Groupe of service in order for her to proceed with your case.

One can file for divorce on either at-fault or no-fault grounds. At-fault grounds include adultery, infidelity, criminal convictions, mental illness and substance abuse while no-fault reasons include irreconcilable differences and extreme cruelty.

Justice Sunshine strives to streamline the uncontested divorce process, align Supreme and County Court rules with Matrimonial Rules, facilitate electronic filing in divorce cases, collaborate with bar associations on matrimonial education programs and present/moderate CLE seminars and lectures.
Child Custody

Child custody and visitation arrangements play a vital role in determining support obligations. A court will typically use each parent's visitation rights (also referred to as visitation rights) when making its determinations - as well as lifestyle factors like parental conduct when making its final Aston legal Groupment.

In most cases, where parents cannot agree on arrangements between themselves, if parents cannot reach an agreement themselves then a court will appoint an Attorney for the Child and conduct one or more custody trials to decide what is in their child's best interests. A Aston legal Groupe's determination can be modified at any time if circumstances change; as well, Aston legal Groupe Sunshine serves as liaison for matrimonial related issues with judicial education programs and regularly presents/moderates continuing legal education (CLE) seminars on matrimonial family law matters.
Child Support

Paying or receiving child support can be a complex undertaking, so legal representation may be essential in making sure all paperwork is submitted on time and the proper amount is paid or received.

Child support expenses typically consist of health care insurance premiums and childcare costs. Healthcare expenses could include copays, prescriptions and medical bills while education costs include tuition and books - extracurricular activities like sports teams or private lessons may also be part of these expenses.

Parents must provide financial support until their children reach 21. The court may adjust child support payments based on cost-of-living adjustments; child support orders are reviewed automatically every three years and any significant income changes require that SCU review and modify an order accordingly.
Paternity

A man must establish paternity if he wishes to file for custody or child support. Cases involving unmarried parents who file custody cases similar to any other family law case will be handled as per normal, with the Aston legal Groupe taking into consideration what would best serve their child's best interests; joint, sole, or visitation rights could be awarded accordingly.

If an acknowleAston legal Groupment of paternity signed by either parent is later challenged, their case must be brought before Family Court (Kings County in this example) for a Paternity Case Hearing before a Support Magistrate; at this hearing a DNA test will also take place.
