“By His Spirit the bride made ready will also arouse the residue of the church still numbly sedated by the world to the same passionate course and expectation.”
- The Bride Made Ready by Judith Lyon Kesselman
As the End Times draw closer, we must take a hard look in the mirror and ask ourselves some important questions: Are we living up to our true potential as Christians? Are we abiding by God's Word? Most importantly, what is keeping us from permitting the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives?
“When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.”
- Acts 2 1-4
The world bore witness to the miracle of the Holy Spirit as God filled His people with great zeal and courage. They spoke fearlessly for the Lord and changed hearts with their actions. In a day and age when these very hearts have turned away from the Message and the inevitable Truth, author Judith Lyon Kesselman, in her book The Bride Made Ready, emphasizes the importance of permitting the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives.
The second feast season, Pentecost, was fulfilled through the early church in Acts chapter 2. But, as Judith Lyon Kesselman explains, “Pentecost is not finished!” Hundreds of years after the original Pentecost, the Lord foretold through the prophet Joel twice about the future when the Holy Spirit will be poured out upon Earth.
“Be glad then, ye children of Zion, and rejoice in the LORD our God: for He hath given you the former rain moderately, and He will cause to come down for you the rain, the former rain, and the latter rain in the first month.”
Joel 2:23
Judith suggests that God knew the bride of Christ would not maintain the flames of the Spirit. And so, He designed a further, much greater Pentecost to near the end of the two days or 2,000 years.
Now, the only question remains: when the time finally approaches, will we be ready to harness the gifts of the Holy Spirit (working miracles, healing the sick, and even raising the dead)?
Supplementing our spiritual growth in the pursuit of permitting the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives, author Judith Lyon Kesselman presents The Bride Made Ready. It is the New Covenant prospective for keeping the Feasts of the Lord, not by the letter of the law, but by God’s Holy Spirit.
