Obtaining Goods and Services Tax (GST) registration in India can be done online through the official GST portal. Here are the steps to avail of online GST registration services:

  1. Visit the GST Portal:

  3. Click on "Register Now":
  4. On the GST portal's home page, click on the "Register Now" link. This will take you to the GST registration page.
  5. Fill in Basic Information:
  6. You'll be required to fill in basic details about your business, such as the legal name, trade name, PAN (Permanent Account Number), and email address. You'll also need to provide your mobile number, which will be verified through an OTP (One-Time Password).
  7. Temporary Reference Number (TRN):
  8. After successfully verifying your mobile number, you will receive a Temporary Reference Number (TRN). This will be sent to your email and mobile number. Note this down as you will need it to continue the registration process.
  9. Login with TRN:
  10. Return to the GST portal and click on the "Register Now" link again. This time, select the "Temporary Reference Number (TRN)" option.
  11. Enter TRN and OTP:
  12. Enter the TRN received and the OTP sent to your mobile number. Once validated, you can proceed with the registration.
  13. Fill the Registration Application:
  14. Complete the GST registration application (GST REG-01). Provide all the required details, including the type of registration (regular, composition, etc.), your business's primary address, and bank account details.
  15. Upload Documents:
  16. You will need to upload supporting documents, such as proof of business ownership, address proof, photographs, and authorization forms for authorized signatories. Ensure these documents are clear and legible.
  17. Verification:
  18. Your application and documents will be reviewed by the GST authorities. They may request additional information or clarification if necessary.
  19. GSTIN Allotment:
  20. Once your application is approved, you will be issued a Goods and Services Tax Identification Number (GSTIN). This is a unique 15-digit number.
  21. Access the GST Portal:
  22. You can access the GST portal using your GSTIN and password. Here, you can file returns, make payments, and manage your GST compliance.
