Meet Classy People at A Classy Bar

4 min read

The bar is a terrific place to meet new people, whether you have recently moved to a new city or you just want to expand your present social circle. First and foremost, you must convey that you are willing to speak with someone. Ever notice the patron who is entirely cut off from the rest of the bar while crouched over his drink and hooked to his phone? Be not that person. If you give off a "don't bother" feeling, you will not gain any pals. Instead, try to sit such that you come across as more friendly. Avoid crossing your arms, try to sit so that you are facing the rest of the bar rather than inward, and do not forget to smile sometimes.

It is Friday night, and you are starting to get hungry. You go to the popular new restaurant down the street with your closest pals and have the best Alexandria Drinks. You all think, "This will be nice." However, you are shocked—and perhaps even a little irritated—to find that you cannot be seated immediately away when you enter a crowded restaurant. But did anyone consider making a reservation by calling? Most likely not.
Never assume that a restaurant will have space for your party, especially if it is a larger one or is during a busy time. A table might be ready in as little as ten minutes or as long as an hour. Given the prevalence of smartphones today, looking up the number and confirming the availability of your table could help you save some time.

The first confidants were bartenders. There is no shame in telling the bartender you are there to socialize; chances are, they will be delighted to arrange a quick introduction.

Tell the manager what kind of gathering you are having when you phone to make the reservation because it could alter where your table is set up and even which server is assigned to you. For instance, do the kids in your party need high chairs and are there any? Or, is this a birthday, bachelor or bachelorette, or other celebration party? If so, is there a quieter area of the restaurant with a more secluded table?

Pool tables, dart boards, and trivia boards are all common entertainment features at an Alexandria Bar and are excellent ways to meet new people. Both are excellent ways to break the ice: ask to join a game or pair up with a trivia team. And these days, there are even more new methods to connect.

Please respect reservations made in advance. Consider it just another appointment. Pick up the phone and call us to let us know if you are going to be late (or early, for that matter), if the number of people in your party has changed, or if you need to cancel entirely. Both reservations and walk-in customers have a direct impact on how we seat the dining room. Therefore, if you cancel or significantly alter your reservation from what is on our books, you prevent us from seating other customers.
