Madagascar, the world's second-largest island nation and the fourth-largest island globally, has introduced a new visa-free policy for citizens of 24 countries to boost tourism. According to World Bank data from July 2024, 87,100 foreign visitors travelled to Madagascar in 2020.

In 2022, Madagascar's nominal GDP was USD 14.95 billion, while the real GDP, adjusted for inflation, was USD 12.24 billion. The country's economy grew by 3.80% in 2022, with a real GDP increase of USD 491.53 million from 2021.
