A renowned DJ
Any aspiring or current music producer or DJ likely knows about Rob Wegner. As a DJ and music producer himself, he has an impressive portfolio and significant accomplishments that make him one of the most iconic names in the industry. Rob himself is known for helping others, and one of his incredible feats is starting an accredited DJ course at SCC (Scottsdale Community College). It has helped passionate DJs acquire the best skills and hone their craft to gain recognition in the industry.
Rob picked up his DJ skills at age 18 when he worked at a popular nightclub on the east coast, drumming over the dance records of a resident DJ for five hours a night and four nights a week. When he moved to Arizona, he became a resident DJ at some of the most iconic nightclubs in the Phoenix metro, including Axis-Radius, Club 411, Barcelona, and Zazoo.
A teacher
Rob Wegner shared his passion for music as a teacher. In 2000, he launched his Disc Jockey 101 website to offer DJ lessons online. New DJs benefited from the site and his advice on proper techniques. This website also became internationally known, and when Rob got a letter from Hong Kong about DJ-related education in college, he got inspired to offer DJ classes. It didn’t take long for the first class to start in 2001 at SCC, and eventually, another course became available. In 2004, Introduction to Dick Jockey Techniques became the first accredited DJ class in college.
His music
Besides teaching, Rob Wegner worked on many stations in the US as a radio mix-show DJ. For instance, he was the resident mix-show DJ on WXLV 90.3 FM’s Club X for two years and spun on WBVS 100.7 FM on the summer nights of 2001. He also performed with rappers like Too Short and made it to the Rave/Remix Channel of Sirius Satellite Radio.
