"The installer has insufficient privileges to modify the file C:\Program Files\Intuit\QuickBooks\sdkeventl.DLL"

or

"The installer has insufficient privileges to modify the file C:\Program Files\Intuit\QuickBooks\CfScan.DLL"

or

"The installer has insufficient privileges to modify the file at C:\Program Files\Intuit\QuickBooks YEAR\QBONLI32.DLL"

What might be the Causes of QuickBooks Error 1321?

There are a number of possible reasons which may trigger this error.

  • The processing speed of updating the file is quicker than the processing speed of copying the file.
  • Your Antivirus is blocking some actions of QuickBooks.
  • The file mentioned in the error is under use or damaged
  • Permissions are restricted in Windows settings

What can we do to resolve QuickBooks Error 1321?

One of these solutions might solve your problem or you might have to try them all.

Solution 1: Try to Update again

  • Click Retry to attempt the update again

If this attempt fails, click on Cancel and proceed to the next solution.

Solution 2: Turn off the antivirus temporarily to reinstall or update

  1. Temporarilyturn off your antivirus. Seek the help of the antivirus service provider to know how to do this.
  2. Install or update QuickBooks
  3. Enable the antivirus again.

Note: Don't turn off the antivirus while being connected to the internet. Ensure that the internet connection is disconnected.

If this solution doesn't work out, move on to the next one.

Solution 3: Change the Windows Permission 

This step is version specific. Please get to know your version it is a 32 or 64-bit windows version.

  • To open the Run dialogue box, press the Windows+R keys
  • Mention the path for the folder containing the Quickbooks program file in the box and press enter.

  3. Choose View and then Customise this folder in the new window
  4. Click on Security in the properties window.
  5. Click on Administrator and push the Allow checkbox button next to Full control
  6. Select System user on the security tab.
  7. Push the Allow checkbox button next to Full control.
  8. Click OK to close the properties dialogue box and now install QuickBooks.
