Honeywell thermostats are known as modern household temperature control devices.  Modern, digital, and smart thermostats have made temperature control easier with programmable features and scheduled heating and cooling. You can find multiple models of Honeywell thermostats, including heating and cooling models. Heat pumps, Wi-Fi models, and so on.

Honeywell thermostats usually offer consistent performance, But sometimes a little bit of manual intervention makes the machine more effective. After all, the weather often remains unpredictable, and adjusting the thermostats for one or a few degrees often makes your home more comfortable. Most of the models come with adjusting settings for fine-tuning the performance. But, if you cannot adjust it according to your requirement, only resetting will help.

  • To reset your Honeywell Thermostat, you must first know its model. The thermostat model number would primarily be located on a label on the front, displayed at the back, or checked through the digital interface.
  • Before resetting, you need to consider the settings and reconfigure them according to the thermostat’s model number.
  • If the thermostat’s model number is at its back, you’ll have to remove it from the base plate and access it.
  • I’ve installed my Honeywell Thermostat without a C-wire, making this process easier for me.

Following are the steps to access the model number at the back of the thermostat:

  • Switch off the circuit using the circuit breaker if your thermostat is mains powered. If you think that the thermostat is still on (because of battery back up), remove the batteries.
  • Now carefully pull the thermostat from the base plate and make sure you don’t damage the clips and pins. Some of the thermostat models require pulling from the bottom of the device.
  • Note the model number at the back of the thermostat.
  • Put the thermostat back on to the base plate.

Resetting a Honeywell Thermostat

Just as there are different reasons why you might need to reset your Honeywell thermostat, there are also a number of different types of resets you can perform three, to be exact. Each of these do-overs addresses a specific problem or function

Factory Reset – A factory reset will restore your unit’s original factory settings, essentially wiping the slate clean. This is the most common kind of reset most homeowners will find themselves carrying out.
WiFi Reset – Resetting the WiFi on a Honeywell smart thermostat will clear the unit’s network memory, allowing you to set up new connections or remedy connectivity issues.
